All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I saw two continuing male
EURASIAN WIGEON in the Palo Alto Yacht Harbor channel located south of the
Lucy Evans Interpretive Center parking lot. At least two male BLUE-WINGED
TEAL were in the Lockheed - Martin marsh while a possible third bird was
poorly seen. A WHITE-TROATED SWIFT with Swallows over the "hill" west
of the Sunnyvale Water Treatment Facility parking lot was a first of the year
for us. A BURROWING OWL was midway up the eastern side of the
hill. I should also note that there were huge numbers of Black-crowned
Night-Herons in the Palo Alto Yacht Harbor with 61 counted in one small
area southeast of the Lucy Evans Interpretive Center parking lot with
lots more in the trees around the Ranger "residence" and in the rest of the
Yacht Harbor.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
