FYI -- I visited baylands to check out the egret rookery today (baby
egrets in the palm trees, the ones I saw probably about 10 days old
or so), and got tallking to a woman there who was taking photos of
the chicks. She was from southern cal and doing birding around the
coast, and I mentioned the little blue heron @ almaden as something
she might be interested in. She mentioned in return that they're
seeing them in san diego this year as well, where they never have
before, so it's not just here. wonder what's up?

Fairly quiet around baylands, it was high tide. There are stilts out
in the marsh across from the parkling lot to the science center
sitting on nests, and there were a lot of stilts moving around and
making noise. No babies yet that I could find. otherwise, pretty
quiet. well, except for the egrets, which are, if anything, noisier
and grumpier, if that's possible.

And lo, though I travel through the valley of the archetypes, I shall
fear no evil, for I know that the author can't kill me off for at
least another 150 pages, no matter how stupid or trite I become, or
he ruins the book.
