[SBB] Cooper's Hawk: PA Baylands coot Killer

For the last few months, there's been a first-year Cooper's hawk that
has made himself at home around the Palo Alto Baylands. This
particular hawk has been utterly oblivious to the presence of humans,
often perching within 20 feet of people. It has been hunting around
the duck pond and the lagoon behind the duck pond. It has been
hunting fron the railings of the nature center and from garbage cans
by the nature center parking lot. I've also seen this particular hawk
on the railing at the Byxbee flood-control gate and on a pole by the
Shoreline Park pump station. It seems to be feeding primarily on
coots. By most of his regular perches, you can find the remains of
Coots. E-mail me if you want pix.
