All,
Roy's RED-NECKED GREBE continues in the southeastmost pond of the San Jose-Santa Clara WPCP today 1/8/05 at 2:40pm, visible from the CCFS dike. It swam around, occasionally shrug-preening, but never diving, and did appear to be oiled on the chest.
Despite few reports of unusual geese in Santa Clara County lately, Mike Mammoser, Richard Jeffers, and I saw 5 species of geese in the flooded field northeast of Cushing Parkway in Fremont (south of Auto Mall Parkway and west of Interstate 880) in nearby Alameda County: 8 immature SNOW GEESE, 2 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE (1 adult, 1 immature), 1 adult ROSS'S GOOSE, and 1 ALEUTIAN CACKLING GOOSE, with a hundred or so CANADA GEESE.
