Hello Birders,
Yesterday during evening surveys the technicians on
my crew found a red-necked grebe in the San Jose Water Treatment Plant.
Once again I know this area is off limits, but the bird can be see most of the
time from the levee road to Coyote Creek Field Station. If you drive to
the field station through the south gate the grebe is in the first pond you come
to on your left. It is quite dark, and has been spending a lot of time on
the bank preening, which makes me think that it may be oiled. The crew
took some digital photos of it, but they are off for a few days. If you
need them for documentation for the county records I can send them to you when I
get them.
