On the Calero-Morgan Hill CBC I found a SOLITARY SANDPIPER along the west side of Coyote Creek about a half mile north of the entrance road to the Coyote Creek Golf Course that comes in off of Monterey Hwy.
Where the paved bike path crosses the entrance road, there is a small utility building on the north side of the road. Next to the building is the start of a dirt path that leads north along the edge of the riparian. Follow this path until some small footpaths (or deer tracks) cut diagonally across a weedy field. Follow these footpaths until you get to the end of a fence line at the southeast corner of a bare dirt field. This field is adjoined on the east by a little cattail pond area. Work north along the edge of the dirt field until you see some junk (including an old truck) along the edge of the field. Here, you will find a small footpath that leads back down the embankment into the cattail area. About a hundred yards further north
is a small muddy-edged pond that the sandpiper was using.
