[SBB] SEOW Continues

A Short-eared Owl was seen this evening at Bixby Park in Palo Alto by me and
Dean Manley. I arrived at 4:30 and immediately saw the bird flying low
across the park's hillside, dipping into the bowl and the top of the hill
and out over the mounds to the southeast. After finding Dean at the top of
the hill we re-spotted the bird flying over the park to the south of us and
continuing west over the landfill. At about 4:45 I spotted the owl perched
quite close, about 50 yds away on a chain link fencepost to the southeast of
the landfill, giving us great views of it's dark triangular eye patches and
buffy streaked breast (probably female). It was the first outing with my
new spotting scope and a life bird. Not bad!
