Correction: Yesterday was August 30.

 

BTW, I also stopped at Shoreline Lake this morning. The only shorebird there was a Greater Yellowlegs. I saw several people with binoculars and scopes arriving as I was leaving.

I checked on the Burrowing Owls at Shoreline yesterday, August 31. I saw 5 (and a cyclist who stopped said he saw 6) on the mound on the bay side of the trail, and one on the street side. The owl on the street side was partially hidden, probably because someone was mowing the grass 20 yards away. The others were standing in the open.

They're back! Today at 8:00 a.m. we counted 7 bourrowng owls (adults plus young) at the mound located 30 yards east of Michael's Restaurant parking lot, right along the biking/walking trail.
