All,
At 7:40 this morning (8/29) Pat Kenny, Roland Kenner, Frank Vanslager
and I had seven RED KNOTS (5 basic and 2 partial alternate plumaged) at the
mouth of Stevens Creek. Four hours later, after a good sized flock of
sandpipers flew into New Chicago Marsh, Frank and I re-found the juvenile
PECTORAL SANDPIPER 150 feet west of the boardwalk at the Environmental
Education Center (about 50 feet southwest of where the PESA was seen on Sunday
(8/27). Another notable sighting was of a COOPER'S HAWK along Stevens
Creek near the southern edge of Salt Pond A2W (a long way from any trees
there!). Birding the eastern side of Coyote Creek from Crittenden
Lane to La Avenida yielded only a few of the "usual suspects."
Take care,
Bob Reil;ing
