Re: [SBB] No Bonfante hummer

I was there today with family in the afternoon. Between 3:00-7:00PM, I
wandered by the balloon ride a few times. Only a couple of Anna's at the
flowering shrubs on either side of the balloon ride.

Subject: [SBB] No Bonfante hummer

South Bay Birders,

I contacted the birder who reported a large hummingbird with blue on the

head to the Monterey Bay Birds list, obtained the precise location of
the
bird, and visited Bonfante Gardens this morning to see if I could find
it.
I arrived shortly after the 10:00 a.m. park opening, and there were very
few
people in the area near the ballon ride where the bird had been seen.
The
flowering shrubs (tube-shaped heath-like flowers, peely red bark) in
this
area had about 10 Anna's Hummingbirds, but I saw or heard no other
hummingbird species.

Returning home through the San Martin area, I counted 21 Eurasian
Collared-Doves; these are derived from local releases.

Our hummingbird feeders still have 4-5 Rufous/Allen's hummingbirds.
