Hello,
Yesterday, my husband and I saw five RING-NECKED PHEASANTS together near the
pond at Sunnyvale Baylands Park. All five were females unless there is a
period when young males resemble females. Sibley doesn't show a juvenile
plumage for this species. These Pheasants were on the side of the pond
nearest the trail and were easy to count as they flew across the pond and
disappeared into the vegetation.
Before this sighting we had only seen pairs in this field. Is a flock of
all females unusual? Would this likely be a family from this spring/summer
nesting season?
