[SBB] Almaden Solitary Sandpiper

The Solitary Sandpiper was still present this morning
from 8:20 AM until we left about 9 AM in the same area
as previously reported by several people. It moved
around from the mudflat near the SCCWD road from the
parking lot to the levee down where Penny first saw it
down along the first gravelly spit toward Lake
Almaden, always on the west side of Los Alamitos
Creek. We had parked in the VTA parking and found the
viewing much better from the east bank than from the
west/SCCWD side that we had tried before. No sign of
the Soras we had seen Wednesday evening nor the snipe
that others have reported. There were at least a half
dozen immature and four adult Black-crowned Night
Herons, one loudly croaking Great Blue Heron that
flushed the Solitary Sandpiper, two Green-backed
Herons, and a male Belted Kingfisher.
