At 5:30 today I drove to the VTA parking lot off Coleman to look for the Solitary Sandpiper. Janna Pauser was already there and we had excellent views of the bird on the mud flat. For comparison there were a Greater Yellowlegs and a Spotted Sandpiper nearby, as well as several Killdeer for a size comparison. Larry Spivek (sp?) arrived later. After we'd watched the Solitary Sandpiper for a bit, I briefly spotted a Sora amongst the reeds on the opposite bank, a little downstream of where we were. I wanted the others to get a look at it, but it didn't show itself again. Then Janna found another Sora directly across from us. It stayed in the open for 20 or 30 minutes, until we left.
