All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I checked out Stevens Creek upstream of
Crittenden Lane. Unfortunately we did not find the MacGillivray's Warbler (I
don't think anyone did this morning). We did manage to find a TOWNSEND'S
WARLER, an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a couple YELLOW WARBLERS, a PACIFIC-SLOPE
FLYCATCHER, a juvenile WILLOW FLYCATCHER and a gorgeous juvenile SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK that posed for pictures, less than 30 feet away, for several minutes.
Other "notables" included several VAUX'S SWIFTS flying high overhead and a
PEREGRINE FALCON being very aggressive toward a low soaring RED-TAILED HAWK. All
in all it was fairly slow birding.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
