I also have a canary at my feeders. It feeds at both the thistle sock
and the seed feeder. Its feed among both House Finches and Lesser
Goldfinches, but does not flock with them. It flies in and out of the
yard by itself. Its been here for at least 2 months now.
Other interesting news is I heard a RED-BRESTED NITHATCH in my neighbors
pine tree on 8/30. It is the first time I have heard one in my immediate
neighborhood. I have not heard it since then. They are at Lake
Cunningham and I live just up the hill from there.
Summer Brasuel
A YELLOW-FRONTED CANARY was associating with a large flock of Lesser Goldfinches that have been feeding regularly at my backyard feeders. While the Goldfinches worked the nyjer socks, the Yellow-fronted Canary worked the seed feeder. The canary left with the goldfinches, returning with them during the afternoon.
I live at the base of the foothills in Milpitas.
