[SBB] juvenile Sora

I thought I'd check for the Brewers Sparrow this afternoon. No Brewers at the granite rock filled drain on the Guadalupe River Trail. I walked north past two willows to an opening and spotted a rail resting on a half submerged branch near the far bank. It stared back at me with big dark eyes and continually flicked it tail. A big turtle was sunning itself on a wooden board near the rail. I rushed back to my car to check my field guide and discovered it was a juvenile SORA. It was quite a bit smaller than an adult and had a buffy head and breast a brown crown and lacked the dark face of an adult. It's beak was yellow with a dark tip. It's back and flanks were similar to an adult. A Common Moorhen and Coot were swimming nearby. I continued north and found a Lincoln's Sparrow chipping, and a Hermit Thrush in an olive tree. Believe it or not I flushed a W. Meadowlark which flew over the water and landed in a field to the west. A few White-crowned Sparrows were heard and several !
Golden crowned Sparrows seen. On the way back I walked to the waters edge and flushed the Sora which was in the water. It flew slowly to the far bank and fed at the waters edge.
