[SBB] NOWA still along Guadalupe River

All,

You can't expect too many rare migrant passerines to be still moving through in November, but the one place that has had several November rarities is the section of the Guadalupe River between Montague Expressway and Trimble Road. With this in mind, I spent nearly four hours working the east of this river, from Montague to Trimble and back again, including much time under the trees in the riparian corridor itself.

Well, I did find one good bird, a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH that provided great views about one quarter of the way from Montague to Trimble (in the riparian corridor opposite the big building with the black glass at the upper corners). This is almost certainly one of the up to two birds seen at this same location between 7 and 22 September, even though it has been missed many times in the interim (including on our Big Day on 6 Oct!).

Other birds of note included 1 WINTER WREN, 1 HUTTON'S VIREO, 4 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, 4 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, and 5+ DARK-EYED JUNCOS.

On the way home, I did a quick drive-by of New Chicago Marsh. A LESSER YELLOWLEGS was still north of the entrance road east of the railroad tracks and an OSPREY was perched across the slough just after the bend in the entrance road.
