Good afternoon SBBers.....
Got out for a couple hours today to check out Calero....found two White
Pelicans, 3 male and 5 female Common Mergansers and a pair of Thrashers
collecting nesting material....this of course was a thrill....6 Snowy Egrets and 3
Great Egrets, 1 Great Blue Heron and a Western Grebe.
Checked out the Wild Turkeys at Calero Stable....Need help here.... I walked
down to the stables and found at the entrance 4 odd looking game birds
(what's up with me finding these guys?)....they were not Turkeys, Quail or
Pheasant.....They were larger than quail smaller than turkeys....spotted feathers,
necks were white, head had red and white....I am guessing the four were males
due to the color on the head....they had a top notch (not a good one at
that)....Anyone seen these out there? IF so can you let me know what they were?
Thanks
Went to Ojier ponds, watched Tree Swallows flying in and out of what else,
tree holes....had a pair of Ring-necked ducks as well as a pair of Gadwalls,
Bufflehead and Ruddy Ducks (in great breeding plumage) were also present.
One the way back I checked out the Golden Eagle nest and could see a head
sticking up in the nest....little ones or is it to early?
Wishing you all good birding and my best regards,
Linda Sullivan
