All,
A bright adult male Bullock's Oriole was cackling near the feeders at McClellan Ranch Park in Cupertino this afternoon at about 5:30 PM 3/15/2005. Also present was a singing (!) Hermit Thrush and an Orange-crowned Warbler (also in song). A Red-winged Blackbird female was carrying straw to a thicket of Milk Thistle out in the field.
This morning at Monte Bello I heard a group of Red Crossbills; I never saw more than 3 but it sounded like there were more up there.
Yesterday (3/14) the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was still making visits to its beloved Magnolia at Hidden Villa. Two singing Winter Wrens were in the upper Adobe Creek area and there were at least 2 Varied Thrushes and 2 Fox Sparrows hanging around too.
