At Baylands last evening, an adult Forster's Tern was carrying a fish while
flying around pursued by two juveniles making a big racket. This continued
for some time, and periodically the adult would land on the ground --
twice, actually in the parking lot near the Center -- and hold the fish out
while refusing to hand it over. Finally the adult let one of the juveniles
have the fish. It looked like a weaning/teaching exercise.
This is a good spot for tern flight shots, and I've put three of the ones I
took last evening up: http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/latest.
