The quail pair have finally brought their group of
nine youngsters to the backyard. For several weeks,
the pair would come a couple of time a day to feed and
drink. The male is always so protective, sitting high
on a bush to watch the female. The interesting
behavior is that now there are two adult plumage males
bring the young ones in. The female is nowhere to be
seen.
After teasing us with occasional visits for two or
three weeks, we have an adult male Hooded Oriole
coming regularly to the Oriole/Hummingbird feeder, as
in previous years. This is a sure sign that the pair
is feeding their young. It keeps me busy refilling
the oriole feeder. I don't have a Palm tree, but
there are plenty in the neighborhood.
