Folks:
Today, 7/6/2005, I cycled along the Mountain View and Sunnyvale salt ponds
and in the vicinity of Shoreline Park. In both morning and evening I had
single adult GREEN HERON at Shoreline Lake. I made an afternoon visit to
A2E, but with binoculars I could only make a tentative count of LEAST
TERNS, about 15-20. Three flew nearer to the Stevens Creek levee, which
was nice. All along the route were 50-100 AM. WHITE PELICANS; it doesn't
seem that the really large flocks have shown up yet, at least in this part
of the Bay. In the afternoon there was a single juvenile BROWN PELICAN on
Salt Pond A2W. Shoreline Lake had the regular oversummering SURF SCOTERS
(3 m, 4 f).
