[SBB] Owling at Monte Bello OSP on Friday

Friday evening Peggy Don, Pat Kenny, Bob Reiling, Frank Vanslager and I went 
owling at Monte Bello OSP.  We started down the Canyon Trail from Page Mill 
about 4:30 pm.  We soon had GREAT HORNED OWLs calling.  Down the Nature 
Trail we heard the first of several WESTERN SCREECH-OWLs, and near the creek 
we heard two NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLs nearby on the far side of the creek to 
the south and a third further off.  Back on the Canyon Trail we went as far 
as the Indian Creek junction.  We heard a good number of screech/scream 
calls along the way that we were unable to identify.  On the way out we 
heard a BARN OWL at close quarters and then saw it as it flew off.  We were 
back to the car by 7:30 or so.
