[SBB] Fox Sparrows?

Perhaps someone experienced in id’ing sparrows can help …

 

Sunday, towards dusk in the Palo Alto Foothills Park, I came across several scattered sparrows (or birds v. similar to sparrows) scratching around on the ground in deep undergrowth. They looked very close to Sibley’s image of Fox Sparrow – conical bill (light in color), dark brown upper parts, no noticeable face markings, brown-white mottled breast, slight rustiness in tail color. Next visit, I’ll try to study them more closely, when the light is better. Are there other possibilities I’m overlooking?
