[SBB] Charcoal Road

About 8:30 this morning Pat Kenny and I started our way down Charcoal Road from Skyline. In the half mile or so before the road gets serious about downhill we had BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERs, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, WARBLING VIREOs singing (seen on the way back), several singing CASSIN'S VIREOs and a pair carrying nesting material, TOWNSEND'S WARBLERs, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERs, and two small groups of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHes.

On the steeper, drier part of the road we saw an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER. 3/4 of the way down, now in mixed douglas fir, we heard and finally saw a male PILEATED WOODPECKER. On Table Mountain we saw an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER.

On the way back up the hill we heard drumming where we had seen the Pileated Woodpecker, and eventually it flew back to, I think, the same tree as before.
