Around the Frenchman's Triangle area (where I live) lots of springy
activity. This morning I caught a glimpse of a male HOODED ORIOLE in the
fan palm on Gerona, and heard two BULLOCK'S ORIOLES singing around
Frenchman's Meadow, didn't see either one. Saw a pair of Cowbirds surveying
the scene from the top of a redwood.
Lots of CEDAR WAXWINGS in the area -- flocks of 20-50.

Singing everywhere, the usual House Finch, Bewick's Wrens, and American
Robins. Here's the traditional postcard of a singing robin.

In past years, we've had a nesting pair of Redtails. No sign of this
species on territory this year, but a pair of KITES and a pair of
RED-SHOULDERS are sharing the area. I haven't found a nest for either yet.
Yesterday, the (or A) Red-shouldered pair was doing the courting flight
above, when I heard a third Red-shouldered calling nearby in the
neighborhood. This brought the male out of the lazy courting circles up
above into an all out stoop down at the intruder -- wish I'd seen the
ensuing events. Here's one of the Red-shoulders, on Gerona Rd, this
morning.

Here's one of the kites, at the corner where Mayfield ends -- one block up
Estudillo from Frenchman's Rd.
