I was one of the folks who arrived about the time Jack was leaving, and I was there until a bit after noon. The warbler didn't put in an appearance, but a couple of people had found a Lincoln's sparrow that came out for a quick look. Otherwise, it was very quiet in the late morning. I continued down to Crittenden and it picked up some, but it was mostly the usual suspects -- plenty of golden-crowned and some white-crowned. Most of the way down to Crittenden I got to a tree that had a number of birds in it. One sparrow popped up onto a top branch and sat and sang for a bit, giving me a good look (and some decent photos), and it looks to be a 2nd Lincoln's. On the way back, a couple of birders found the black and white again (just before noon); it'd moved significantly downstream, and was past the downed tree you have to climb over, near where the plastic bag is snagged over the stream. It was up in the canopy hopping around on the trunk and some of the larger branches, moving around a lot and hard to keep track of. We had maybe a minute of intermittent viewing and it dropped out of sight again. We gave it another 5-10 minutes but it didn't re-appear. Other birds seen during the walk -- finches, a few song sparrows, four ravens on the power pole at La Avenida, scrub jays, a couple of snowy egrets and one great, a couple of black-crowned night herons, chestnut-backed chickadee in with a flock of bush tits and a few mallards. I then headed off to lunch, then over to baylands to practice stalking sparrows and warblers again. The picnic area gave me some cooperating golden-crowned as well as the white-crowned, yet another yellow warbler and a female common yellowthroat. A quick check of the fennel didn't turn up much, but another flock of bush tits came by to mock me (the score for those following along, bush tits 6, usable photos 0....) The black and white seems to be exceptionally active and moving around a lot -- a couple of birders noted they'd seen it previously further downstream from where we saw it around noon, which was downstream by a good bit from where Jack saw it.
