All,
Just before one this afternoon (9/20) the juvenile PARASITIC JAEGER
was in the middle of Salt Pond A12 just north of the Alviso Marina Parking
lot (we could actually see it from the edge of the lot with our
scope). Frank Vanslager first found the bird in the pond at about 8:30
this morning and it has apparently been there all morning as we could also spot
from the western edge of Salt Pond A16. A few minutes earlier (abt. 12:35)
a RUFF was found sleeping in the pond adjacent to where EEC entrance
road splits from Los Esteros Rd (near Spreckles three blocks south of State
St). No sign of the Black Turnstones at Salt Pond A16. On a
belated note there was a basic plumaged BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER in the New
Chicago Marsh on Tuesday (9/18), in the pond near the boardwalk (hadn't seen any
for a while so thought it might be notable)..
Take care,
Bob Reiling |
