[SBB] Booby, jaeger, cormorant - Oh my!

At midday today, 19 Sep 07, I traveled out to A10/A11
in Alviso for another look at the BROWN BOOBY, which
according to Al Eisner, had flown in to the levee
about 10 minutes before my arrival.

We watched the bird for some minutes before it took
off and flew low over the water of A10. Suddenly, a
PARASITIC JAEGER dropped into a position off the
starboard stern of the booby. However, finding no
evident reason to chase, it broke away and settled on
the water. After some minutes of watching it there,
our attention was diverted and it disappeared.

Before long, the booby reappeared over the levee, but
continued on to A11, where it foraged for the next 10
to 15 minutes, sometimes quite close to us and
providing excellent views. The bird seemed to be able
to catch fish quite easily.

Then, once again the jaeger popped up next to the
booby, only to settle once again on the water near the
A11/A12 levee. It sat here for a considerable time,
until Al and I decided to leave, but was gone by the
time we arrived on that side of A11.

There was also at least 1 PELAGIC CORMORANT on the
scene.
