I was in Yellowstone all last week where the fall has
an entirely different look happening there right now
as compared to here. Quickly moving on......this
morning in Campbell I heard through an open window my
first flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS as they did a fly-over
of the house.
The late afternoons have consisted of 12 - 14 VAUX'S
SWIFTS chatting above and catching bugs over the Santa
Thomas Expressway and Winchester Perc Ponds. This
appears to be an excellent year for Vaux's. For the
past several evenings they have been accompanied by
Cliff Swallows and one young vocal Caspian Tern.
The ponds are great for the bugs and the bugs are
great for the birds.
