Hi Birders-
At 7:15 am I left the Alviso marina and biked out
to the levee separating salt ponds A10 and A11. Bob Power was there and located
the Brown Booby on the eastish side of the levee several hundred yards out.
Others eventually arrived on bike and on foot. After a while the booby flew out
over pond A11 to feed by skimming like a shearwater then diving horizontally. It
eventually flew back to the levee and was harder to find. Frank Vanslager found
a Common Tern on some posts barely sticking out of the water about 200 yards out
from the corner of the pond. A Pelagic Cormorant was seen on the levee before
most other birders arrived.
