[SBB] Stilt Sandpiper in Alviso (old & new locations)

Hi birders,

Yesterday afternoon (9/3) at around 4:30, I was able to see three Stilt Sandpipers (STSA)  foraging on the previously described pond near the end of the railroad spur.

I then joined Emily Serkin at State & Spreckles, where she found a STSA roosting on an island at the north end of the pond around 5:30.  At about 6 pm, I found two more roosting STSAs on another island there. Some or all of these could have been the same birds from the first location (all were juveniles), as a Peregrine flew through and stirred everything up.  No sign of the Ruff that was reported to the Birdbox on 9/2.

Good birding,
Kathy Robertson
Hayward, CA

New Chicago Marsh, Alviso, 09/03/07.  A high count of 6 STILT
SANDPIPER was achieved late this morning in the last large pond on
the left side of the spur railroad track as you walk out from the EEC
entrance road.  This equals the number in the original flock (I
verified the 6 for sure with Bob) found by Bob R. and Frank V. on
Friday, 08/31.
