Hi birders,
Yesterday afternoon (9/3) at around 4:30, I was able to
see three Stilt Sandpipers (STSA) foraging on the previously
described pond near the end of the railroad spur.
I then joined Emily Serkin at State & Spreckles, where she found a
STSA roosting on an island at the north end of the pond around 5:30. At
about 6 pm, I found two more roosting STSAs on another island there. Some
or all of these could have been the same birds from the first location (all
were juveniles), as a Peregrine flew through and stirred everything up. No
sign of the Ruff that was reported to the Birdbox on 9/2.
Good birding,
Kathy Robertson
