Re: [SBB] Cedar Waxwings over Alpine Pond

Hello All,

This morning 9/4/2007, a flock of 18 Cedar Waxwings flew over the little pond at Monte Bello's Gate 5, so Kay's birds seem to have made it into Santa Clara County.

The pond was less exciting this morning than on 8/31...best birds included 2 Soras, 3 flyover Lawrence's Goldfinches, an adult male Black-throated Gray Warbler, and an adult Chipping Sparrow. There were no swallows or swifts at all.

Subject: [SBB] Cedar Waxwings over Alpine Pond

Last night (Sept. 2) while attending Karen DeMello and Jan Hintermeister's bat walk at Alpine Pond, Debbi Brusco and I heard what we thought were CEDAR WAXWINGS calling overhead.  We looked at each other with puzzled expressions, looked up, and saw 4 Cedar Waxwings flying over the Russian Ridge parking lot.  Later, about 7:00 we saw a group of 5 fly over Alpine Pond, followed later by  group of 6.  We're not sure if this was the same flock that was accumulating one bird per pass, or if there were three separate flocks.

Good birding!
