This morning Frank Vanslager and I had a few "notable" birds in the Gilroy
Water Treatment Facility including two PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, two WOOD DUCKS,
six GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, and eleven CACKLING GEESE. There also
were approximately 50 WILSON'S SNIPE (in one pond), good numbers of GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, some DOWITCHERS (both types) and a few LEAST SANDPIPERS.
A small group (abt. 6) CANVASBACK were in one of the ponds near the
entrance to the facility. We later birded the Santa Clara County side
of the Pajaro River which was very disappointing, best birds were a
LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, a SAY'S PHOEBE and a LINCOLN SPARROW.
Take care,
