This morning 10/11/2007 I saw a TENNESSEE
WARBLER in the double row of cottonwood trees in Sunnyvale Baylands
Park. I saw the warbler in the eastern section working its way
west through the tops of the trees where it disappeared around
9:30. The bird had light underparts contrasting with a greenish
back. The breast was light yellow and the belly and undertail were
white. The bird was very clean with no streaking on the underparts.
Bob Reiling and Peggy Don arrived, and our searching finally paid off
when we found the bird in the eastern section of the cottonwoods about
11:30. Again, it disappeared after moving through the trees and we were
not able to refind it.
In general, warbler activity was fairly good at the
park this morning. Lots of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, of course, but
also an adult male BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER,
several YELLOW WARBLERS, and several ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS.
Take care.
