The sewage work in Alviso on Speckles St started yesterday afternoon. After
checking out the pond, I turned around in the pump station driveway and
noticed a large puddle not there the day before. A closer look revealed that
it was getting larger. It must have just started a few minutes earlier. Then
I saw and smelled more putred liquid bubbling from underground. So I walked
into the company next door and told a guy in the office and he said he'd
call for help. I also called the City of SJ when I got home. Hope the
offending matter didn't get into the pond. Birds of note: A male Northern
Harrier sitting on a mound in the pond on the south side of the EEC road was
chased off by a female harrier carrying some sort of prey.
Dave Weber,
Milpitas.
