I birded around Santa Teresa and Bailey this morning and found several
LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES, 3 SAY'S PHOEBES, 3 WHITE TAILED KITES, a NORTHERN
HARRIER, KESTREL and COMMON RAVEN pair. A field on Laguna was full of
SAVANNAH SPARROWS (at least 50 seen) and a dozen WESTERN MEADOWLARKS. A
soaring GOLDEN EAGLE was seen on the drive home along McKean Rd.
Later I stopped at Lake Almaden where I found five RUDDY DUCKS and one
male RING NECKED DUCK. Also seen were WILSON"S WARBLER and NASHVILLE
WARBLER. Dozens of Yellow rumped Warblers and five Western Bluebirds
were on the lawn or in Pistache trees.
I checked the water district for more ducks but found only 2 RUDU and a
male Gadwall. The OSPREY was perched in a tree in the north east corner
of the property. A SPOTTED SANDPIPER was working the spillway as usual.
Many Western Pond Turtles were also seen today.
