All: Today, Monday May 7, at about 8:30 AM the Cattle Egret was still associating with the horses at Arzino Ranch; it seemed to be showing a lot of red on its head. There were also a few Burrowing Owls around. Going out the railroad tracks from the EEC entrance road, there were 2 Red-necked Phalaropes -- one on the ponds to the right, and one on the ponds facing State and Spreckles. Further out there were 2 perched Caspian Terns. And out in the mitigation area to the west of the railroad tracks, there was a Snowy Plover in breeding plumage, likely a male. There were also a number of Semi-palmated Plovers. And, of course, the usual suspects throughout. Frank Vanslager See what's free at AOL.com. |
