I took a short walk in Almaden Quicksilver Park today, 30 Mar 07, entering at the Mockingbird Hill entrance. Most notable was a pair (male and female) of LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCHES feeding in the fiddlenecks bordering the parking lot. I believe that COOPER'S HAWKS are breeding near here, as one kept calling from out of sight somewhere along the New Almaden Trail. BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS and WARBLING VIREOS hanging around as well.
Walking around the neighborhood, I had a male HOODED ORIOLE singing from a treetop.
