I found Hugh McDevitt's Pacific Slope Flycatcher at Camden and Harry Rd.
around noon today. I found PSFL nesting in this general area last year.
I birded along the Calero Creek trail finding No. Rough Winged, Violet
Green and a Barn Swallow pair. Half a dozen Western Bluebirds, Lark
Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, and a Belted Kingfisher were also seen. Near the
bridge going up the road to IBM Research I distinctly heard the lively
call of a Bullocks Oriole. I did not see this bird. A few Meadowlarks
and small flock of Cedar Waxwings flew over. Several Wrentits called
from the chaparral hillside.
Walking along the Alamitos Creek trail near Leland H.S. I saw my FOS
Warbling Vireo in the treetops. Another was heard only further north.
Several Hermit Thrush, a Downy Woodpecker and Common Merganser pair were
also seen.
My backyard Hooded Oriole has been visiting its feeder today.
