Speaking of Screech Owls, Laurie mentioned that she heard the Screech
Owl thursday morning at 5AM as it flew overhead, seeming to be
travelling from the golf course (on pruneridge@san tomas) to Central
Park here in Santa Clara.

There was some discussion about whether or not it was resident or not,
and where it might be staying; Laurie and I have looked for it in
Central Park a couple of times to no avail, and it's been a number of
months since we've had a sign of it, but now that it's warming up
again and the windows are open, she clearly heard it call.

So it's definitely here (back? still here? not sure); and from its
flying patterns, we're guessing it's roosting somewhere in the
northern part of Central Park, although it could also be on the golf
course somewhere. We heard it consistently from last spring into fall,
and now we're hearing it again.
