[SBB] BUOWs and RNPHs in Alviso

All:

This morning, Saturday June 30, at about 8 AM there were 13 Burrowing Owls spread out in the fields of Arzino Ranch -- plus two more where the railroad tracks cross the entrance road to the EEC.  Taking the clockwise loop from there around to the EEC, I was immediately rewarded with 26 Red-necked Phalaropes (with one adult in full winter plumage) and 9 more further out along the New Chicago Marsh railroad tracks.  Some highlights were: a close fly-by of an adult Peregrine Falcon, 2 perched Caspian Terns looking enormous, a half-dozen Least Sandpipers, a close Marbled Godwit, 2 White Pelicans, 3 Eared Grebes, a Barn Owl in the nest box, 6 Dowitchers, and a gazillion or two of noisy Black-necked Stilts and American Avocets.  Some of the fall migration might be showing up.  I had a total of 44 species.
