Posting for Tom, because his email doesn't seem to be arriving (so we
definitely have a black hole somewhere; but I'm still figuring out
where; the emails are working for some folks, not for others; It may
be DNS related and will therefore clear up on its own. Or not. But
I'll work at accelerating the move to yahoogroups so we can get this
resolved that way. Unfortunately, on a deadline crunch at work, too)

I was away for the weekend, and so missed the chance to jump on Garth
Harwood's notice of the BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS visiting the cherry tree
behind the education building at Hidden Villa, which Ron Wolf and Ron
Fredrick have since photographed. HV is closed Mondays, and I was worried
that they might have stripped all the cherries by today and I wouldn't get
my turn. No fear -- lots of cherries still on the tree, and still a great
chance for one and all to get nice long looks at (and photo) these birds
close up at eye level. Robins and Steller's Jays are also visiting the tree
regularly, creating quite a colorful scene. Pix at
