Re: [SBB] Common Tern at Sunnyvale WPCP

Emily:

(switching reply to plain-text format)

Common Terns have shorter legs than those of Forster Terns. Also look for
the carpel bar on the wings often shown in the id-guides.

SBB strips the notice at the bottom of the email

There is really nothing in the content of your email and certainly none of
mine that warrants the use of HTML format.

	Hi Birders,
While enjoying the Franklin's Gull this afternoon, I believe I
spotted an adult COMMON TERN in breeding plumage.
I'd appreciate it if someone were willing to look at the picture I
took, to confirm the identity of the tern. (I can email the picture to
anyone willing to help.) Its primaries were much darker gray than are those
of Forster's Terns; however, I didn't get a picture of the underparts and
did not realize at the time that those of Common Terms are grayer than those
of Forster's.
	Thanks and good birding,
	Emily Serkin
	Castro Valley
