[SBB] Western Screech and Barn Owls

All,

A single WESTERN SCREECH OWL was calling repeatedly on Old Page Mill  
Road, near the gated entrance to the quarry. A pull out across from  
the gate provides enough space to park safely. Kelly and I walked  
back toward the entrance off of Page Mill and stopped on the small  
bridge. We could hear the bird calling directly above us. Despite a  
lengthy search, we could not view the bird, but I'm sure it could see  
us... In the area there was also a family of BARN OWLS making quite a  
racket as the adult brought food to the youngsters, who were on the  
branches of a dead tree. These birds were located close to the red  
brick tower beside the road. We have often heard Great Horned Owl  
here as well, but not tonight.
