On Friday, 26 Jan 07, I was one of the participants in the Ruffapalooza on the EEC entrance road. Afterwards, I went out to salt pond A16 and saw 2 GLAUCOUS GULLS on or about the first island, along with others from the RUFF watching. These are likely the same birds that Bill had earlier.
On Saturday, 27 Jan 07, I went up to Ed Levin Park and looked for hummingbirds in the eucalyptus trees. All I could find were ANNAS. A BARN
OWL was roosting in a pine tree and I flushed up an adult COOPERS HAWK from one of the pines. A GOLDEN EAGLE went gliding towards the west with a RED-TAILED HAWK in hot pursuit. The YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was still present in the trees along Calaveras Road.
Afterwards, I returned once again to the EEC in Alviso, where Jack Cole and I had the 2 GLAUCOUS GULLS, once again on or about the first island in salt pond A16. Duplicating Bills picnic table trick, we were able to find 2 EURASIAN WIGEONS in salt pond A18 across the slough.
