[SBB] Sierra Rd & Environmental Education Center

All,

This morning Frank Vanslager and I had ROCK WREN, HORNED LARK, WHITE-THROATED SWIFT, YELLOW-BILLED MAGPIE, WESTERN BLUEBIRD and SAVANNAH SPARROW near the summit of Sierra Rd.  Big misses were Lark Sparrow and Rufous-crowned Sparrow.  Felter Rd and Marsh Rd were very slow with the most notable species being a couple hunting Bobcat.  During a quick check at the EEC we had the male RUFF (south of the entrance road), BARN OWL (in the nest box), two GLAUCOUS GULLS (one each on the first island and second islands in Salt Pond A16), and a single SANDERLING (on the third island).  Salt Ponds A16 and A18 both seem to be overflowing with ducks and gulls, one wonders how long the ponds can sustain such a quantity of bird life?

Take care,
Bob Reiling
