All
This morning (1/22), Frank Vanslager and I had two, interacting
(displaying), adult, light phase FERRUGINOUS HAWKS on the west side of
Santa Teresa Blvd about 3/4 mile north of Bailey Ave. In this same area we
had a GOLDEN EAGLE, a perched OSPREY, a perched COOPER'S HAWK and four to
six RED-TAILED HAWKS. Earlier at Richmond Ave and Santa Teresa/Hale Ave we
had good views of a MERLIN as it flew in, briefly perched near the closed
driving range and then flew quickly back west. At the Coyote Creek Golf
Course we were unable to locate a probable Great-tailed Grackle that called
once near the club house. Lots of GREATER SCAUP at Ogier Ponds with the
best birds there being a male and a female COMMON MERGANSER. Nice views of
RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS here.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
