This morning (Fri, 1/18) I saw the continuing COMMON LOON in the pond by
the Hwy 85 / Almaden Expressway interchange.
Bob Reiling has given a good suggestion as to where to park if you wish to
look for this bird - Foxchase Drive. This street which leads in to an
apartment/condo area is just north of Blossom Hill Road but before you get to
Hwy 85. The pond is just north of Foxchase Drive right at the southbound
entrance to the freeway - kind of a sketchy place to find a rarity, but it can
be viewed from the sidewalk there. The bird was also quite visible
from my car when I was stopped at the stoplight upon leaving the
area.
