[SBB] SCVAS field trip Jan. 21 to Foster City/Coyote Point

Hi, folks:
    The Avocet apparently was delayed this month by (I gather) printing
difficulties.  I haven't received mine yet, and under the assumption others
might be in the same boat, I'm rerpoducing the announcement for an SCVAS
field trip this Sunday.  (Check the web page for other trips -- there is
one Saturday to Almaden Lake/Alamitos Creek.

Sunday Jan. 21, 8:30 A.M.
Foster City and Coyote Point, San Mateo County  Bayside

Half day.  From Hwy 101 take E. Hillsdale Ave. toward the bay, turn
right on Shell  Blvd. (just after passing the lagoon), and park in the Leo Ryan
Park lot on your  right, just beyond the community center.  We will start our
birding  here, then car caravan to at least one other Foster City location and
to Coyote  Point.  At Coyote Point (possible admission charge) we will meet at
the  parking lot adjacent to the yacht club.  This trip should be good for
shorebirds (including "rockbirds") and waterfowl, but we'll also look  for
landbirds.  A scope will be very useful.  RC, LO
